From what I have seen and been told the OPC XER engine is/was a combination of ZLET,LEH and ecotec parts.
ZLET/LEH head (no egr ports on the exhaust side, no sure if ZLET/LEH sodium filled exhaust valves were used) LEH crank (early ecotec) with no counter balance shaft, ecotec block (no oil jets), ZLET/LEH rods and a fully floating pin naturally aspirated pistons, (not 100% certian about rods and pistons) ZLET/LEH oil pump with LEH oil pick up pipe, baffel plate and cast frame.
Again not sure what they did for cams. wethere there was a go faster profile used.
Using a mixture of the various parts I mentioned a similar spec engine could be reproduced, possible problem would be sourcing pistons as the normal non-turbo ecotec uses weaker cast pistons with press fit pins and weak connecting rods.
Re-machined XE pistons can be used with XE connecting rods (as ZLET/LEH)
All depends on budget.
crankshaft – like xe/let, but for xev bottom gear
rods – same part number like xe/let
pistons – made by mahle. in mahle catalog casting type like on c20let pistons. also in mahle catalog you can find oversize pistons. opel/vaux EPC don’t have part numbers for oversized pistons
camshafts – different from x20xev/c20xe
exhaust manifold – 4-2-1 (inlet the same)
bottom part of oil sump – it’s welded for hard cornering, like in instructions for rally nova
valve springs

also i’ve hear that this engine was build to be ready for group N and need to change only maps. also, that official dealers have special map for this engine – higher rpm limiter and more power.
